egg in a hole

my first (and surely not my last) attempt at egg in a hole!

butter your bread as well as grease/oil the pan. i cut the hole in my bread first with a juice glass.

flip. dammit, i broke a yolk.

here, we'll cover the broken yolk with meunster cheese!

almost ready.

topped with siracha and ready to eat!

troll way from insight brewing

the kids over at insight sure are doing it right! yeah, it's citrusy but it's not clumbsy and piney like a fizzy gin. drink this!

guinness ipa

don't turnbone down if it's in front of you, but don't go too far out of your way to get in front of one.

it is very subtle, maybe i was expecting a little more of something to chew on.

photos and thoughts from tonight

very random subjects!

how can a skyline
be so playful?
when its friends the clouds
hang low
so they can make some mischief
and have some fun
challenging and obscuring
the enormous anchors to...
our perceptions of reality.

it's a-liiiiiiiive!
rooting
of the cuttings
in the window over my sink.
that the organs for life
in this context can look so monstrous,
makes you think.

hell chicken

tonight, i am not a fan. seems like the wrong season for lightly fruity beer

maroon & bold

fabulous, 100% MN sourced double IPA. maroon & bold, a double infuriatingly passive aggressive ale!

backwoods bastard

wow, this is a bourbon barrel aged ale. you totally smell the bourbon but there is very little bite when it hits the mouth. i think you'll miss out on a lot of the character if you try to drink this one from the bottle, so... just get a glass, ok?

final flowers of autumn

ran around the yard, today, capturing color that may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you are looking for color in autumn in minnesota.

it's fun to find the surprises, like late flowers. some are loud and defiant. some, faded and ready to be done.

failed new road design in roseville, ramsey county

Victoria street (Ramsey County road 52), between County road B and Larpenteur Avenue was repaved and reconfigured this summer. It went from a stretch of road that was awesome to cycle on northbound and southbound, to... safe nothbound

and a RIDICULOUSLY UNSAFE southbound lane:

Why? Are there no cyclists working in the traffic engineering groups in Roseville or Ramsey County?

This design was utter crap for safe, bikeable, pragmatic streets. Why? Let's not build new surface streets that are cycling hostile.

narwhal season!

bottles in the window

and finally, a selfie shows up

flowers in the window

and, finally, just slowed the shutter way down to let the light just bleach it out and let the light slice through the flower. now the petals look more like brushstrokes.

use a post spike, they said

use a post spike, they said. it'll be easier to change it out when the mailbox breaks again, they said... meanwhile one sweaty hour later

singletrack rye pale ale

the last of my in-colorado beer suggestions is boulder ceer co's singletrack rye pale ale. an easy drinker, for sure, and siince i'd just finished a mountain bike ride (https://www.strava.com/activities/338419040) it was a good "recovery" drink. a little of the spicy edge from the rye seemed to make it finish dry. well... yes, i'll have another

ska brewing's esb special ale

not so bitter and malty smooth. i'd buy it again.

good enough to entertain me during a fire (false) alarm. water off a duck's back, i'm on vacation.
