fridley-cross my wife photographer

Once again, the no-talent hack is made to look good again

fridley-cross my kid photographer

I've got to be the most photographed no-talent hack from today's race. Here's a set of photos taken by my daughter who's really developing quite an eye and able to capture what she sees.

backdrop

cloudless blue sky.
a continuous backdrop for arborous nakedness--interspersed with
remnant patches of yellow
and the rare orange--in the
threadbare fabric of our late autumn landscape.

great start to the day

one sorry effin commute

made it to work with grease on my fingers, droopy leg warmers, and two, yes two punctured innertubes. not my best ever start to a day, but let's see if we can turn this thing around.

btw: panaracer crossblasters are NOT fit for urban applications without a tire liner.

sunday at battle creek

my wife, the photographer, chased me around in the woods for a while on sunday and this is what we came up with.

at the break

at the break of dawn
sunlight warming the tops of the trees
along the house-lined street
quiet all around as the solitary noise
of high-pressure tires pop and click along through the grit of the urban streets
the commute is almost over as the day begins.

ephemeral

dawn foreshadows its arrival
with pink and purple brushstrokes
under high eastern clouds,
the chill that seeped into my arms
while riding
oozes back out at the stoplight,
and thoughts ricocheting
off the inside of my helmet
mask the memory of the pedalstrokes that powered the commute.
suddenly, i've reached my destination
and i'm locking my bike--so it won't be
a fleeting memory like...
the details of my ride.
