stone russian imperial stout

oh, heck! it was cold enough this eve for a bottle of russian imperial stout to be an impulse buy at the liquor store. evil, evil store manager for putting this next to the register!

breezy, bright office

weird... thai chilis grow upward

most other chili's I've grown hang down. not so with the Thai chili's (at least not yet)

Post color run

ran the color run 5k this morning. crazy event. too many walkers, but it was really cool to see that many people out for a run. love to see the fairgrounds used for fitness instead of deep-fried candybars.

1x1 posing for some late-in-the-ride shots

today's ride, peaks trail

rode from breck to frisco on the dirt ~9mi and back to breck via tar bike trail. the last of it is always up ski hill road. climb, climb, climb to finish the ride

again, what we call a rock garden in MN...

is what they call trail in, CO. what an awesome ride, today on the peaks trail from breck to frisco.

another post-ride-pickmeup

iced coffee with plenty of half-and-half

so, that's where rain comes from...

actually had the vantage point that allowed me to watch the valley below get rained on by the cloud that was right about the same level as me, in Rocky Mountain National park (near the alpine visitor's center).

so, how does this front-facing camera wor... ok!

here we are, almost on top of the world. halfway up the stairs at the alpine visitor center in rocky mountain national park and we started to hear thunder. and it's not that thunder above you kind of thing. it was thunder next to you. we snapped our photos and headed back to the car.

greetings from the top.

hardest 3 mile climb I've ever done.

today's ride. i TOTALLY earned today's descent

lots of climbing and lots of descending. overall, about 2k of climb. this was about a 12 mi ride, and it took me most of the afternoon. totallyfrigginworthit. i rode the service road from about 10k to 11k. the last climb back to the lodge was on tar. i know... what a cheater. this was achieved without a single click of a derailleur. my surly 1x1 was the whip of the day, and a 32x16 was my only companion. so... umm... yes, i did have to stop a few times on the way up to 11k to stuff my lungs back in my chest.

all-totally-worth-it.

so, friggin cool to earn your descent.

now... i just hope i come home with a few new red blood cells!
