didn't go to work today, so i had to make an excuse to get out on the bike. i found some messenger-baggable errands to run during the rainless window this afternoon and snapped these while i rode through r-ville's reservoir woods. it's a hidden gem of a trail.

but i was a little slow at the draw.

i can't really pick my favorite. i think they all look pretty cool. i'm biased, though and tossed all of the other versions i didn't like at all ;-)

day1-ride 1 of 30daysofbiking

last year's rear tire, moved up front--recycling. a new chain, switch to skinny tires, a rinse and wipedown, and drop a couple of teeth in the rear cog to make it a 42x16FG, i barely recognize it as the bike i rode all winter.

i'm working on a bike in the garage and there's beer in that fridge!

and by cool, i mean nice and warm.

no complaints about the outdoors.

resourcefulness

say you're a transient and your foot's feeling better, but you expect you'll be needing your crutch sometime soon. do you stash it somewhere? nah, just "lock" it with your bike. these bikes do have a chain and a lock, but it's about as effective as a shoestring. it's really their condition that contributes to their security.
